Cash cheese prices at the CME Group continue to set new daily and weekly 2010 highs. Current cheese supplies have tightened through much of the country as milk needed to cover school needs requires larger volumes as additional schools reopen. In parts of the country, plant operators are unable to secure additional fluid supplies to help fill orders and have reduced production schedules. Boxed beef cutout values were higher on light demand and offerings. The sharply higher cattle market last week continued to have repercussions through the beef sector this session. Packers managed to continue raising prices on most items in an effort to recoup their additional cost, however with Labor Day procurement essentially over trade volume was considerably below average. Produce

The Idaho New Crop Potato harvest thus far has been moving dismally slow and continues to run much smaller than average. Some sheds are even reportedly experiencing difficulty producing cartons larger than 10-11 ounces! This week`s heat wave throughout Central California was somewhat brief yet adversely impactful on a number of staple commodity items including but not limited to Broccoli and Cauliflower. Arkansas: Market prices traded higher on boneless/skinless breast, 4/10 leg quarters, thighs, and other parts were steady to lower. Trade was active on oneless/skinless breast and bagged leg quaraters, otherwise trade was noted as light. Diminished yields from light bird weights due to heat wave resulted in less offerings. Pork

Historic levels were ascertained for the pork carcass cutout each day early week before the apex was reached on Wednesday. After the high was attained, the downward slide began and continued through the weeks end. Trading levels for retail cuts remained lofty early week, but reversed direction Thursday as buyers sat on the sidelines and supplies grew. In other words, the wheels on the bus began to fall off.
