Weekly Poultry Commentary
Whole broiler/fryer prices are steady overall. Preliminary majority prices are unchanged in all areas when compared to early week prices. Offerings on smaller birds are moderate to heavy, three pound and heavier sized birds are sufficient. Retail and food service demand is light to good, mostly light to moderate entering the weekend. Floor stocks are light to moderate. Market activity is slow to moderate. In the parts structure, movement improved slightly under normal weekend demand but still noted as light to moderate overall. Prices are trending steady to weak for breast items and tenders, steady to firm for dark meat and wings. Offerings are moderate to heavy for tenders and breast items. Wings are in good supply and moving well. Offering for dark meat is moderate. The market activity is slow to moderate. Wings are light to moderate with the larger wings in the better balance. In production areas, live supplies are moderate. Weights are mixed, but noted are mostly desirable. |
