Col. Sanders stunt ruffles U.N. feathers

Former Lawrenceburg Mayor Bob Thompson said he only was supposed to appear outside the United Nations headquarters in New York last week as part of a tongue-in-cheek KFC campaign to have a “Grilled Nation” of chicken fans admitted as the U.N.’s 193rd member country. Instead, the 80-year-old Col. Harland Sanders impersonator found himself shaking hands with the president of the U.N. General Assembly.
