Cooking in the Eighties: How I learned to cook

As a chef in the Bay Area, a recurring question from many patrons, guests, and luminaries of the restaurant and others is, “Where did you go to school to learn how to cook?” Even Dan Akroyd recently asked me; I had no easy one liner. But this is what they want.  Despite a solid two decades of answering this question, I am still a tad awkward in my reply. I always attempt to make my answer entertaining and enlightening.
